Short Story Dreams # 2

Short Story Dreams Issue Number Dos

The Band

So I was walking around New York City, minding my own business in the late afternoon when the sun was already hidden behind the tall skyscrapers in the distance. I strolled casually inside one of the gray, stone buildings that had a professional golden plaque. I couldn't read what it said, but I could somehow tell it was a bank. I stepped inside and the interior was only lit by the dwindling light outside. There was a lone and loud echo with every step that I took on the black and white marble floor. I stopped dead in my tracks to see that in front of me there were several SWAT teams surrounding the center of the bank. They were ordering a group of men to stand down and drop their weapons. I couldn't see who the men were so I took a few steps closer and to my surprise, the band Rammstein was robbing the bank for all it had. They each had a large, black dufflebag and assault rifles on their side that looked pretty bad ass with the black suits they were wearing. They just stared at the SWAT team ahead of them with smiles on their faces. It was silent for a moment when the lead singer took out a small radio and decided to trigger bombs they had placed around the bank. After a "click", the SWAT team was blasted away and their bodies managed to cover me from the explosion. Once I cleared the debris off of me, the lead singer of Rammstein noticed me and got me by the collar. I had no idea what the hell was going to happen but I just let him throw me into the passenger side of a cab because I didn't want to be shot in the face like the cab driver who was dead in the back seat.He stepped on the gas, the tires screeched and we bulleted away with the police on our tail. I gripped the armrest as the speed increased and the sirens got closer and louder. They managed to catch up and started to slam us into the side of the road. When we reached an intersection, a truck smashed into both the cop car and the taxi where I was. I came out without a scratch but the singer was bleeding from his leg and limping. He shrugged it off like it was nothing and had a crazy look in his eyes while we escaped the wreckage. He went towards the ripped out trunk and pulled out a gas can. He drowned the taxi and cop car with the stuff and tossed the can inside. I just watched as he lit a cigarette and began to walk away when he tossed the match into the wreckage. He made me follow him, and as we walked slowly away, I felt the heat and push from the explosion against my whole body. We walked for ours and somehow arrived in a forest. I was behind him when he turned around and gave me a rifle and a single bullet to go with it. He had one too and all I could think of was having to escape this guy before it was too late for me. I ran a different direction into the forest and managed to get away, but the forest had changed. All of the trees were now made of paper and the only light came from out of sight spotlights hitting the paper trees. Suddenly, a spotlight appeared between two trees and a circus performer was swinging between them. He had a revolver in one hand and shot away at me. I was hit but then I "woke up" and found a single rifle bullet in my pocket.

Short Story Dreams # 1

Short Story Dreams Issue Number Uno

Introduction
The title for this is self explanatory for what is to come but I want to talk about the origins for me wanting to talk about a new topic to write about that really interests me, so without further ado, here I go. For a couple of years now I've been attempting to really get in touch with my imagination via dreams. I was browsing the net when I read that it might be possible to control your dreams or "lucid dream" as it is formally known. As soon as I discovered this fact I practically jizzed my pants at the idea of being able to fly with my own group of super hero dinosaurs. Although I am still not able to do that, I have come across awesome dreams that have made trying to lucid dream very worthwhile. This first entry, however, was the first dream that made me want to look deeper in the first place. So, without further ado, the first of hopefully many dreams to be posted is here. Enjoy!

The Beast
I stood nowhere. I was standing alone in darkness with no one around me. I started to hear footsteps surrounding me and I was now standing among a giant cluster of Roman soldiers. The soldiers were all geared head to toe with crimson, metal armor. I looked down at myself and I was wearing the same armor as all the other soldiers and had a spear in my hand. We were all inside a giant castle courtyard in the day and were facing the front main gate. I started to hear chants and shout. "DEFEND THE GATES!!", a soldier shouted to the top of his lungs. His voice kind of sounded like Russel Crowe, but that wasn't important right now. I had to figure out just what the hell was going on. There was more screaming and shouting along with the sound of blades clashing. After a while someone just shouted, "RETREAT!!" and I could see soldiers being thrown over the gates. The walls of this mighty fortress began to boom, shake and crumble before my eyes. Something was pounding and thrashing at the walls so intensely that I felt my bones shake with the castle. Something was coming, and when the walls finally gave way they left a giant dust cloud. For a moment, all you could hear was the sounds of pain. When the dust finally settled, do you know what I saw? It was freaking GIANT JESUS! He punched catapults and swarms of soldiers to bits, and I just froze there not being able to process just what I did to get there in that moment. He picked up a giant handful of soldiers and took a crunchy bite that left debris on his strangely well groomed beard. After that though, I just said ,"Fuck that", and cheesed it out of there without a second thought.
The scene changed and I was still running away from the battle. It was night nighttime and I arrived to a stone road lit by fancy lamp posts emitted a strange blue glow. After a moments rest though, I could hear the same horrible roar that came from Giant Jesus and the crashing steps he took as he came closer and closer to me. I had to think fast and hide wherever I could, so I did what any rational person would do, and I dug a half-assed hole right next to the fairly well lit road. As soon as I finished, I lied down and covered the hole and I with a white blanket. Time was of the essence, and there was apparently no need to check the details of my hiding hole. The booming steps finally arrived in front of my incredibly genius disguise and I felt Giant Jesus move around and grunt angrily. He was pissed that someone got away, and he would surely crush me to the size of a crouton. After a the longest time, I had to pee, but then he started towards the road and then I was alright to go my merry way.
The scene changed and it was nighttime at a farm. Inside the barn was a boy in overalls and what seemed to be an injured pony. "Don't worry little horsey", said the little boy,"You're gonna be all right". When suddenly GIANT JESUS EXPLODED THROUGH THE BARN!
"Get the hell out of there!", said the farmer to the little boy," Just leave the horse!". "Cmon horsey!Run! You can do it!" shouted the little boy to the pony. Unfortunately for the little boy, he tried to stay behind to save the pony and Giant Jesus ate them both.

Why Pulp Fiction is the Best Goddamn Movie Ever.

I would love to just be able to say "Pulp Fiction. Nuff said", but that would not do the film justice at all. This film blows my mind every single time I watch it, no matter what the occasion. From witty, fast talking characters to gruesome action that just keeps your eyes glued to the screen. This film never fails to please(and the fact that this was released on my birth year makes it more awesome). I'm not going to have any spoilers on this because that would be a dick move to anyone who has not watched it.
First off, the movie is not in chronological order, so the delivery of the story stays fresh throughout as you try to figure out just what the hell is going on. With these stories come incredible characters played by several great actors like Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and other awesome actors. So, prepare to learn why you should watch this movie if you haven't yet.
"Watch this movie."
The movie takes place in L.A. and the story revolves around miscellaneous characters that happen to be related to each other in some way.  .Every scene has a great atmosphere that helps keep you in the moment no matter what distractions you may have. It doesn't matter if you start the movie from the beginning or you start from the middle, because the films' being out of order makes it feel fresh at any point in time as if it where a new story every time. The music also plays a vital role in this and it surprised me just how well it was synchronized with the scenes. As each scene continued the music just fused with it and drew me in closer. Now, I have boners for movies with awesome soundtracks and this one takes the cake because you can't listen to the soundtrack without watching the movie. They go hand in hand so well that without one the other just is not the same.
"Seriously. Watch this movie."
I would love so much to quote the hell out of the best scenes in "Pulp Fiction" but I would have to type out the whole script so this brings me to the dialogue. The characters' personalities all feel amazingly unique and memorable. As I watched, I held on to every word a character said because what they said gave me a sense of who they were and I felt as if I had known them my whole life. A few minutes was all it took to make me feel like these characters were real. They were funny when they were serious and they were serious when they were funny. Every line delivered was so perfectly timed you could swear they were real people, with real problems that pull you in and make you feel sympathetic towards their dilemmas.
"Even if those dilemmas might include killing people."
Lets not forget the editing to top this recommendation off. Of course the editing is the most important part of any film(in my opinion), but "what is it?" you say makes this film's camerawork so special? When each scene is played out you don't see the camera going all over the place. You don't see it in any uncomfortable angles. The scenes are presented in a way that makes you feel as if you are in the scene with the characters. It doesn't zoom in at random points, and the camera is never to far from where it's supposed to be. Basically,  the most comfortable viewing experience I experience is watching this movie without having to focus too much on surroundings, because it only focuses on the characters and what is happening to them.
The fact that this was Quentin Tarantino's second film is impressive on it's own, but it was so great it is still recognized today. It's definitely influenced me as an actor because it has taught me what it takes to step up and become a truly unique character. This film has inspired me time and time again to use the best of my imagination as well as my ability when I approach things.
"Hmm, I guess violence DOES get things done."
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch it for the second time in a row.
