Short Story Dreams # 2

Short Story Dreams Issue Number Dos

The Band

So I was walking around New York City, minding my own business in the late afternoon when the sun was already hidden behind the tall skyscrapers in the distance. I strolled casually inside one of the gray, stone buildings that had a professional golden plaque. I couldn't read what it said, but I could somehow tell it was a bank. I stepped inside and the interior was only lit by the dwindling light outside. There was a lone and loud echo with every step that I took on the black and white marble floor. I stopped dead in my tracks to see that in front of me there were several SWAT teams surrounding the center of the bank. They were ordering a group of men to stand down and drop their weapons. I couldn't see who the men were so I took a few steps closer and to my surprise, the band Rammstein was robbing the bank for all it had. They each had a large, black dufflebag and assault rifles on their side that looked pretty bad ass with the black suits they were wearing. They just stared at the SWAT team ahead of them with smiles on their faces. It was silent for a moment when the lead singer took out a small radio and decided to trigger bombs they had placed around the bank. After a "click", the SWAT team was blasted away and their bodies managed to cover me from the explosion. Once I cleared the debris off of me, the lead singer of Rammstein noticed me and got me by the collar. I had no idea what the hell was going to happen but I just let him throw me into the passenger side of a cab because I didn't want to be shot in the face like the cab driver who was dead in the back seat.He stepped on the gas, the tires screeched and we bulleted away with the police on our tail. I gripped the armrest as the speed increased and the sirens got closer and louder. They managed to catch up and started to slam us into the side of the road. When we reached an intersection, a truck smashed into both the cop car and the taxi where I was. I came out without a scratch but the singer was bleeding from his leg and limping. He shrugged it off like it was nothing and had a crazy look in his eyes while we escaped the wreckage. He went towards the ripped out trunk and pulled out a gas can. He drowned the taxi and cop car with the stuff and tossed the can inside. I just watched as he lit a cigarette and began to walk away when he tossed the match into the wreckage. He made me follow him, and as we walked slowly away, I felt the heat and push from the explosion against my whole body. We walked for ours and somehow arrived in a forest. I was behind him when he turned around and gave me a rifle and a single bullet to go with it. He had one too and all I could think of was having to escape this guy before it was too late for me. I ran a different direction into the forest and managed to get away, but the forest had changed. All of the trees were now made of paper and the only light came from out of sight spotlights hitting the paper trees. Suddenly, a spotlight appeared between two trees and a circus performer was swinging between them. He had a revolver in one hand and shot away at me. I was hit but then I "woke up" and found a single rifle bullet in my pocket.
